Conference on oil commerce and logistics hold in Lagos, Nigeria
Several factors affecting the oil and gas downstream sector of the economy, were identified by stakeholders at the oil and gas trade and logistics conference that held in Lagos Nigeria during the week.
One of such factors include; the temporary shutdown of the Port Harcourt and, Warri and Kaduna refineries for rehabilitation, Although Port Harcourt and Warri refineries are expected to commence operations this November. Another factor identified is, the inherent attitude of not allowing things to work in the Nigerian system, hence the call for attitudinal change
According to some experts in the industry, the way out is for the government to hand over direct management of the sector to private investors. Allowing investors to invest money in the sector, while the government focuses on regulations and maintaining stipulated standards.
