“Land border closure had resulted in increased Production” - Minister of Agriculture.
Nigeria’s Honorable Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Muhammad Sabo Nanono has promised Nigerians that by 2022 the country will be in the market of exportation of rice to other countries. The minister stated this during a working visit from Nestle Nigeria PLC in Lagos.
The minister explained that if the momentum is maintained in the next two years the country would be exporting its own locally made rice to nearby countries. According to the minister, the current land border closure had resulted in increased outputs by many rice milling plants which prior to now were operating below capacities before the closure.
