How prepared is South Africa for the 2019 general elections; this is the big question requiring answers
In line with South Africa's Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, commitment to keep members of the diplomatic corps informed of all important policy directions and events in the country, the minister, Lindiwe Sisulu, hosted the quarterly meeting with members of the diplomatic corps especially in view of the fast approaching general elections in South Africa slated for the month of May. The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) and the diplomatic police were also invited to participate in the engagement so as to properly answer all questions that may arise. According to the report released by the IEC, 299 political parties are participating in this year's election. The question then, is how ready is South Africa for 2019 elections? During the engagement, the IEC commissioners led by the chair person as well as the CEO and his team from the department, took turns to brief the minister on the logistics and legal requirements expected of missions abroad to provide infrastructure in support of the IEC in order for South African's abroad to register as voters.
