The Presidential Election Tribunal presiding over the 2019 Presidential elections in Nigeria, which held earlier in the year, has dismissed INEC, and President Muhammadu Buhari's, request to strike out the petition filed against them by the People Democratic Movement, contesting the outcome of the elections in which Buhari was declared winner by INEC.
The PDM led by Pastor Haminchi Habu through the petion filed, challenge the victory of Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the February 23 polls. On the other hand, INEC and President Buhari through their respective lawyers, filed seperate motions seeking the dismissal of the petition on the grounds that the petitioners did not comply with provisions of paragraph 18, section 1 of the the first schedule of the Electoral Act.
