Over 1,000 People displaced following dismantling of migrant camp by the Police
Not more than 1,000 people have been displaced in Dunkirk, France after the police dismantled an existing migrants camp following a court order in the region. The camp which opened towards the end 2018 when the mayor of the region offered the building for migrants, housed 200 in a gymnasium and 800 in tents nearby. However, the number of migrants in the camp had since increased. Following the dismantling of the camp, the migrants who are mostly young men from Iraq are being taken to temporary sites where they can apply for asylum.
Everyday there is a rise in the number of migrants making attempt to cross the English channel to Britain in small boats. The number has unimaginably risen to 40 in a single day.
