The All Progressives Congress’s candidate for the 2019 presidential election in Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has been re-elected as Nigeria’s president for another four-year term. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), through its chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, declared Buhari winner of the election in the early hours of today after three days of painstakingly collating results of the election which held on Saturday 23rd February 2019 across the country. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who served under former President Olusegun Obasanjo as Vice President between 1999 and 2007, led a number of other challengers to contend with Buhari for the most coveted seat of power in Nigeria. In the final tally, Buhari polled 15, 191, 847 votes while Atiku, got 11, 262, 978 votes as announced by the INEC chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu. President Buhari is expected to receive his certificate of return as Nigeria's president for the next four years later today being Wednesday 27th February 2019.
