Governors task workers on preparedness to pay tax if minimum wage must be implemented
Despite signing the minimum wage bill into law by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, Governors of states in Nigeria have expressed in body languages their states inability to pay the newly signed minimum wage. The governors stated that if the minimum wage will be fully implemented then workers should also be prepared to pay tax in their various states as part of the internal revenue generating plans of the government. It has however become obvious to observers that most of the governors in the various states might not be able to implement the newly signed minimum wage due to the challenging state of the economy in the nation.
